Disclaimer: Chuck doesn't know I'm doing this :-)
I included Chuck's pic on here for three reasons: First, he
sent me a whole diskfull of pics of himself. Although I never
got official permission to use this on the AmigaDisk, I keep
remembering his claim, "hey, fighter pilots are brave and
courageous, NOT smart!" :-)
Secondly, I had the extra space and NONE of the other pics sent
so far were small enough to fit on the remainder of Disk 4.
Thirdly, I wanted to clue y'all in to one of the "unseen
forces" behind the FidoNet Amiga scene in general.
Chuck is the sysop of the Amiga User's Group of Kansas City
(AUGKC) BBS in Belton, Missourri, 1:280/322 (40:204/10 for
AmigaNet). That in itself is a small start. In addition,
Chuck is very active as a mover and shaker for various
non-backbone echos, receiving and sending feeds from all over
the world. He's the US gateway for the Sky Amiga Net (SAN)
file network, a hub for the Amiga Distribution System (ADS)
file and message network, as well as a central connection site
for BBS support networks of many types. He has never once
requested a dime from anyone for doing this, and it IS a lot of
hard work, folks.
Chuck deserves a big ovation for getting a lot of those nifty
PD and Shareware programs into the US, as well as sending our
plaudits back over the "pond." I know _I'm_ grateful as all
get-out, he's been a very reliable person to feed from for
years.
Chuck, as you may have gathered, is an Air Force officer, a
pilot of the A-10 "Warthog" anti-tank fighter. His "tank
demolition service" business card is good for a yuk or two. I
had the opportunity to meet him in person recently, and he's
quite a friendly and chatty guy. Unfortunately, he's so busy
in the file distribution echo business, he doesn't have any
time left for the really cool echos like AMIGA.
Well, that's about all I have to say. Chuck is more than
welcome to submit a rebuttal, if he sees this :-) Just for the
record: THANKS, CHUCK!
